The PMK on Monday, in its recently released shadow budget, proposed that the State would generate ₹5,43,442 crore as revenue, which is ₹1,91, 602 crore more than the last financial year, by better utilising natural mineral resources. The party, an ally of the BJP, opposed the three-language formula prescribed in the National Education Police 2020.
The shadow budget said ₹50,000 crore will be paid as principal against the outstanding debt, with a surplus revenue of ₹46,319 crore. The document added that 7.5 lakh people would be appointed to various Tamil Nadu government departments, Public Sector Undertakings, and local bodies in the next four years, and the State would add 2.5 lakh government jobs (out of the 6.5 lakh vacant government jobs) in the next year.
It also proposed implementation of the old pension scheme from April 1 and a 246% increase in dearness allowance for the State Transport Corporation pensioners. It further proposed allocation of ₹2.20 lakh crore for the education and healthcare sectors.
