NEW DELHI: Delhi police detained cabinet ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj on Friday during a protest against the arrest of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate in excise policy case.
The two ministers were taken in a police bus as officials asked protesters at the ITO intersection, which is near the AAP and BJP offices, to disperse due to prohibitory orders issued under section 144 in the region.
Police barricades were set up near the AAP and BJP headquarters on Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, with traffic blocked.
ID checks were conducted for entry into the area.
The AAP had called for nationwide protests following Kejriwal’s arrest.
