Prakash Jha, the creative force behind Ek Badnaam Aashram, shared insights into crafting complex characters like Baba Nirala and Pammi, stating, “I work very closely with the writers, continuously refining the story, dialogues, scenes, subtext, and the context. We keep integrating new elements to make it as engaging as possible. There is no fixed blueprint for shaping Baba’s or Pammi’s character. We chart out a character and develop a journey arc, allowing it to evolve based on the narrative’s needs. Everything is intricately woven to create the right impact, making the series truly enthralling.”
When asked about how the series fits into his larger body of work, Jha offered a grounded perspective, he said, “I don’t perceive my projects like a body of work or anything of that sort. For me, every project is significant in its own right. Whatever I am working on each day at the shoot holds— be it shooting, writing, or directing. The past is done; what matters is the present. When I am immersed in making Aashram, it is the most crucial thing at that moment. I still consider myself to be immersed in learning every single day.”
