BIJNOR: Seven staff members working at a private hospital in Chandpur area of Bijnor were booked for allegedly refusing to provide benefits to a patient under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
According to police, Jahid Ahmed filed a complaint against the hospital, and following court’s order, an FIR has been registered against seven medical staff members including hospital’s manager Dr Rizwan Elahi, Dr Shabnam Nizam, Mohammad Irshad, Dr Najreen, Umer, Samar Elahi and Dr Namara Qamar under sections 323, 326, 504, 506, 420, 406, and 120b of the IPC.
Ahmed took his wife to Paras Hospital after she complained of abdominal pain. He alleged that the medical staff operated on her in the absence of an expert surgeon after which her condition deteriorated. He added that even though he had the Ayushman Bharat card, the hospital staff refused to give him the benefits and took Rs 35, 000 as payment. Later, they referred Ahmed’s wife to a Moradabad hospital that was not affiliated with the scheme and he had to pay for further treatment. Eventually, his wife was admitted to a Bijnor-based hospital where her condition is stable.
