CHENNAI: Over a fortnight after an unauthorised helicopter flew in prohibited air space over Mukurthi National Park, Tamil Nadu’s forest department has requested the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to probe the unauthorised intrusion, reports Ram Sundaram.
On Dec 27, 2023, Venu Srinivasan, chairman emeritus of TVS Motors, and his wife Mallika Srinivasan, chairman and MD of TAFE, travelled in a private helicopter from Coimbatore to the Nilgiris. They visited their estates in Korakundah and Chamraj. Two days later, the state forest department received a video showing a helicopter moving over Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and Mukurthi National Park, with date and time stamps.
