The Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation has initiated the procurement of ragi (finger millet) from farmers in Sri Sathya Sai district at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹4,290 per quintal for the Rabi season, Joint Collector Abhishek Kumar said on Monday (April 07).
The Joint Collector said that procurement centres were arranged at Rythu Seva Kendras and would be functional through the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS). He said that farmers who cultivated ragi during the current rabi season and registered their crop details on the e-Crop platform would be eligible to participate in the procurement process.
Expenses related to gunny bags, loading charges, and transportation costs would be borne by the State government, to ensure that the farmers did not suffer any additional burden.
The Joint Collector informed the farmers to contact the village agricultural assistants in their respective areas to process their crop registration, if not already done.
He said that all eligible farmers can utilise the opportunity to get a fair price for their produce and prevent losses by selling at lower rates in the market.
