Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma sparked a political controversy after reportedly calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi his “favourite actor” during an awards function on Sunday night. The Congress quickly seized on the remark, claiming it validated their long-standing assertion that Modi is more of a performer than a leader.

BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj, however, refuted the interpretation, clarifying that Sharma was asked about his favorite “hero,” not an actor, and that his response was taken out of context.

Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra took a jab at Sharma for referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his “favourite actor.”

During the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards ceremony on Sunday night, CM Sharma was asked by reporters about his favorite hero or actor. With a smile, he responded, “Narendra Modi.”

Reacting to Sharma’s remark, Dotasra said on Sunday that Congress leaders have long maintained that Prime Minister Modi is more of an actor than a leader.

“We have been saying this for a long time that Modi ji is not a leader but an actor. Though late, even the Chief Minister of the BJP government has started saying that Modi Ji is not a public leader but an actor. He is an expert in camera skills, teleprompter, costumes and flowery speeches,” Dotasra said in a post in Hindi on X.
