On his Instagram stories, Rajkummar Rao encouraged his followers to see the film, he wrote, “Do watch this gripping thriller, running in theatres.” The Buckingham Murders is the first collaboration between Kareena Kapoor and director Hansal Mehta, with Kareena also making her debut as a producer with this crime thriller. The film features Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen in key roles. It premiered at the opening night of the MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai last year, where it received a standing ovation and acclaim for its compelling storyline.
Kapoor and Mehta’s film reportedly earned Rs 1.62 crore on its opening day. Initial estimates from Sacnilk.com had suggested a much lower figure of Rs 37 lakh nett, but the actual earnings are a significant improvement. The film had an overall occupancy rate of 6.93% on its first day. Out of its total 1300 shows nationwide, the highest number were in the NCR region with 366 shows, followed by Mumbai with 237, Ahmedabad with 213, and Lucknow with 72. Night shows proved to be the most popular with audiences.
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao is currently featured in Stree 2, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi.
