CHENNAI: Referring to the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, Tamil Nadu sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday said DMK does not accept construction of a temple by razing a mosque.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Udhayanidhi quoted late chief minister M Karunanidhi and said, “DMK is not against any religious belief but does not accept construction of a temple by razing a mosque.”
Asked about AIADMK skipping the inauguration of Ram temple, Udhayanidhi said it was their personal choice and added, “They have already sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya.”
Asked about AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami skipping the consecration due to his leg pain, Udhayanidhi quipped that as EPS had the habit of crawling, he might have acquired pain in his legs.
Earlier, Udhayanidhi flagged off a torch relay for DMK youth wing conference to be held in Salem on Sunday.
