GUWAHATI: All India United Democratic Front chief and Lok Sabha member from Assam Badruddin Ajmal on Saturday appealed to Muslims of the country not to venture out of their homes and travel by trains in the days ahead of the consecration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.
Ajmal said he is making this appeal to “save our people” as he fears the “situation might turn bad, something similar to that when the Babri Majid was demolished and violence broke out and people were beaten up.”
“My appeal is Muslims should stay indoors and not to travel by trains for four-five days. There will be thousands from across India traveling by buses and trains to Ayodhya. Any untoward incident can happen. So, my appeal to Muslims to avoid train travel is with an objective to maintain peace,” Ajmal said. Ajmal made this appeal while speaking at a foundation stone laying ceremony of a madrasa in Barpeta district.
