KJo took to Instagram to share his profound connection with the designer’s work. “I saw Gudda’s collection and show and as always Marvelled at what a stunning artist, craftsmen, fashion legend he is,” wrote the filmmaker, sharing images of himself in a Rohit Bal sherwani.

“I told myself that I wanted to wear his latest collection on Diwali.. and requested for some of his stunning pieces … unknowingly last night I wore him and clicked some images and got into my car and then read the heartbreaking news of his passing,” Johar revealed in his emotional post.

Before his untimely death, Rohit Bal had made a triumphant return to Lakme Fashion Week, closing the season with a spectacular showcase. Known for his innovative approach to design, Bal had masterfully woven India’s rich cultural heritage into contemporary fashion, earning global recognition.
The designer’s final days were spent at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital, where he was admitted following heart complications. His health had been a concern since 2010 when he suffered a severe heart attack, leading to an emergency angioplasty. In recent months, the 63-year-old designer had faced multiple hospitalizations due to complications from chronic pancreatitis.
