LUCKNOW: Sachinder Mohan Sharma, IRSME (Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineer) of the 1991 batch, will be the new divisional railway manager (DRM) of the Lucknow division of Northern Railway.
The appointment was announced by the joint secretary of the railway board V S Dahiya on Tuesday.
Sharma has been serving as DRM Thiruvananthapuram division, Southern Railway, since March 2023.The incumbent DRM Lucknow, Manish Thapliyal of the 1992 batch IRSME, will take over charge of DRM Thiruvananthapuram. Thapliyal has been with the Lucknow division since July 2023, and during his short tenure, the Ayodhya Dham Junction was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on December 30.
Sharma believes in innovation and efficiency for inclusive and sustainable development. His motto is “Dream, Believe and Achieve”.
He also served as the senior professor in management at the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara.
Being an engineer, his specialities include railway transportation, rolling stock maintenance and operation, fuel energy management, staff and labour management negotiations and general administration.
Sharma has represented Indian Railway and DFCCIL in Johannesburg and presented a paper on managing operations and policy Issues pertaining to rolling stock, crew and disaster Management.
With over more than three decades of service in the Indian Railway, Sharma is known for participating in sports, especially in marathons, and worked in Lucknow as Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer in Lucknow and deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer in the Alambagh workshop.
