NEW DELHI: A new death threat against Bollywood actor Salman Khan was reported on Monday. According to ANI, an unidentified person sent a threatening message through WhatsApp to the official number of the Worli Transport Department.
The message warned of plans to kill the actor at his residence and blow up his car with a bomb.
Following the threat, a case has been registered at Worli police station. Authorities have launched an immediate investigation into the matter and security around the actor has been heightened.
The police are working to trace the origin of the message and ensure the safety of the actor.
Actor on radar of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi
The actor has long been on the radar of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who allegedly wants to avenge the black buck hunting incident involving Salman Khan in the 1990s.
Last month, ahead of the release of his film Sikandar, Salman Khan spoke to the media and admitted that moving around with heavy security can be difficult at times. However, he said he is not afraid of the threats and has left his safety in God’s hands.
Lawrence Bishnoi, one of the accused in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, has openly threatened Salman Khan over his alleged role in the black buck poaching case during the shooting of Hum Saath-Saath Hain.
Last year, two men on a motorbike fired multiple shots outside the actor’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The investigation later revealed that the attack was intended to intimidate the actor and was carried out on Bishnoi’s instructions.
In another major incident in October, NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Baba Siddique, a close friend of Salman Khan, was shot dead by three assailants near his home in Mumbai. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder.
Following these incidents, Salman Khan’s security has been significantly tightened. The balcony of his residence has also been fitted with bullet-proof glass.
