Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s action web series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny‘, alongside Varun Dhawan, made its OTT debut on November 6, and the initial episodes are receiving unwavering love from fans. The actress recently spoke about SS Rajamouli’s role in giving Telugu movies a pan-Indian appeal.
Samantha highlighted ongoing efforts to bridge the North-South divide in the Indian film industry, aiming for greater inclusivity. When asked why South Indian films have only recently gained nationwide popularity, she suggested that while South Indian filmmakers excel creatively, they may have previously lacked strong marketing skills, which could have delayed their pan-India rise.

The ‘Rangasthalam’ actress credited ‘RRR‘ director SS Rajamouli for expanding the reach of South Indian cinema with a pan-Indian vision. “Rajamouli Sir, with ‘Baahubali‘, really opened up more avenues for South Indian films. He was probably the first person who thought, ‘Let’s see; I think this film has wings.’ I’m really glad he thought that because he truly opened the gates,” the actress stated.

Samantha also discussed her role in ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny‘, highlighting the series’ inclusive approach to language. She explained that her character effortlessly switches between English, Telugu, and Tamil within a single sentence, reflecting a conscious effort by the show’s creators to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps. Samantha emphasized that this trilingual dialogue represents an ongoing commitment to inclusivity and resonates with the broader conversation around creating diverse, relatable content.
‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, directed by Raj & DK, who co-wrote with Sita R. Menon, is a spin-off of the American television series ‘Citadel’.
