Young center Victor Wembanyama for San Antonio Spurs broke history, amassing 34 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks in the game that finished at 116-96 against Sacramento Kings. His performance did make him have the full season of games played as he reached his 82nd game in career games. He has become the only player in league history to have had 1,700 points, 800 rebounds, and 300 assists in his first 82 games surpassing this list headed by Oscar Robertson, Kareer Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Blake Griffin, and Sidney Wicks.

Victor Wembanyama broke history, amassing 34 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks
Victor Wembanyama, the 20-year-old from France who headlines the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA, was on fire Sunday night as he scored 34 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, dished out six assists and blocked three shots in the Spurs’ 116-96 win over the Sacramento Kings. Wembanyama was playing his 82nd league game, following being selected first overall in the draft. His performance broke the record of Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Blake Griffin, and Sidney Wicks, who had scored over 1,700 points, had nearly 800 rebounds, and had at least 300 assists in the first 82 games.
Wembanyama discussed his experiences playing a full season and the mental aspects of preparing for a busy schedule. “Approaching the game mentally is more important than approaching it even physically,” he told reporters. “Of course, we’re going to take care of our bodies but there are people whose jobs it is to take care of our bodies, make sure we’re healthy. Of course, we’re going to think about that but to be great you’ve just got to approach the game with that killer mentality.”
Wembanyama scored 24 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks in a victory over the Utah Jazz; it is actually his third career game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, and five three-pointers. His shooting from three has become one of the stronger parts of his game, and his career high would be 14-for-27 on three-point attempts coming off six-for-12 against the Kings, this was after a great performance against Utah Jazz.
“I’m just taking better threes,” Wembanyama said. “Yeah, of course it’s feeling better. I’m 20, I’m hoping for some years it’s going to keep feeling better and better. There is no reason for it to feel worse.” Wembanyama’s impressive defense in Monday’s game, including a 360 block of Sacramento center Domantas Sabonis, helped the Spurs win 5-6 and host the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
