Saudi Arabia is set to open its first alcohol store in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter, catering exclusively to non-Muslim diplomats. Customers will need to register via a mobile app and obtain a clearance code from the foreign ministry. The store is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to promote tourism and business in the country, as well as diversify its economy beyond oil. It is yet unclear if other non-Muslim expatriates will have access. The store is expected to open in the coming weeks.
