Amidst growing concern over 58 drivers of school buses in Bengaluru failing an alcohol test, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the drive will continue to ensure road safety.

The driving licence of the 58 drivers, among the 4,559 who took the alcohol test in a three-hour-long campaign across Bengaluru, were seized. The DLs have been sent to the RTOs concerned for suspension.

“The alcohol consumption level of the drivers was more than the permissible limit. The drivers are putting the safety of school children at risk,” Mr. Singh, said.

The schools that hired these drivers will also be held accountable. Police have been told to question the schools that hired the drivers caught for drunk driving, officials said.

The traffic police have been told to create awareness among schools and colleges to ensure their drivers adhere to road safety.
