A scrap shop that stored paper scrap was gutted at Kulangarapeedika in Kozhikode in Kerala early on Saturday morning.
The storage shed of the scrap shop named Eco Papers and Scrap was completely burned down, while the main building also sustained damages.
The incident took place around 1.30 a.m.
Three fire units from the Fire Station at Meenchanda worked for four hours to put down the fire.
The estimated damage is that of around ₹5 lakh.
The family that lived in the nearest house were not at home and hence were spared from possible choking.
