Canacona: A second turtle arrived at Agonda beach on Sunday and laid 107 eggs on the beach. The turtle nesting site has been protected by the forest department.
Range forest officer (marine) Rajesh Naik said an early start to the turtle nesting season could be attributed to the climate change.
In early hours of Friday, a flippered creature laid 65 eggs in her second attempt along the Agonda beach stretch.
Since tourists and noisy surroundings affect the nesting environment, eggs are shifted to the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre and are watched by the forest department.
Naik said olive ridley turtles normally return to the same habitat to lay eggs.
As turtle nesting coincided with the peak of the tourist season in Goa, the forest officer said that they would have to be more watchful.
