LUCKNOW: Known for her candid statements in parliament and outside, film actress Jaya Amitabh Bachchan (75), who is set to compete for fifth term as Samajwadi Party MP in Rajya Sabha representing ‘aadhi abadi’, jointly owns Rs 1,578 crore along with her husband.
According to her affidavit, the Padma Shri awardee, who has been representing Samajwadi Party in Rajya Sabha since 2004, has gathered property from endorsement, MP salary, professional fees, while Amitabh from interest income, rent income, dividend income, capital gain and income from solar plant.
While the gold medalist from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Jaya owns Rs 40.97 crore worth jewelry and one sedan for Rs 9.82 lakh, Amitabh owns Rs 54.77 crore worth jewelry and 16 vehicles for Rs 17.66 crore including two Mercedes and Range Rover. The couple jointly owns Rs 849.11 crore worth movable property and Rs 729.77 crore worth immovable property.
While Mulayam loyalist Ramji Lal Suman (73), a senior leader who was recently appointed as an SP national general secretary by Akhilesh Yadav, owns Rs 1.85 crore immovable assets and his income in 2022-23 was Rs 1.20 lakh only. He has Rs 3 lakh worth jewelry.
Alok Ranjan the possibly first former bureaucrat to be sent to the Upper House by SP, annual income Rs 89.24 lakh in 2021-22 and his total worth property jointly shared with his wife Surabhi Ranjan is around Rs 12.39 crore. Alok has done MBA in 1976 from IIM Ahmedabad and is an alumnus of St Stephen’s College.
