West Zone and North Zone remained unbeaten on the fourth day of the ongoing Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy as they beat East Zone and Central Zone, respectively, to register their third win of the tournament.

Kiran Nagvire continued her scorching form with a 23-ball 48, while fellow-opener Humairaa Kaazi slammed a 44-ball 50 to help West Zone overhaul a 135-run target, with seven wickets in hand and four balls left, against East Zone at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima.

North Zone rode on Shweta Sehrawat’s 62 off 32 balls to thrash Central Zone by six wickets and 21 balls to spare while chasing a paltry target of 128 at the Sovima Cricket Ground in Sovima.

West and North Zone are placed first and second, respectively, in the standings at the end of the fourth round, with 14 points each from four matches.

Meanwhile, South Zone returned to winning ways by comprehensively beating North East Zone by 38 runs at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium on Monday.

South Zone posted a competitive 149 for six in 20 overs, thanks to S. Sajana’s unbeaten 15-ball 31, before leg-spinner Asha Sobhana’s three for 11 in four overs meant North East could only muster 111 for seven in reply.

With just one more round of matches remaining before the final, scheduled for Friday, West Zone and North Zone have taken an unassailable lead in the points table and will lock horns in the summit clash of the tournament.

The last round of league-stage matches will take place on Wednesday.
