Jharkhand Minister Hafizul Ansari stoked a row after he said that Shriyat comes first for a Muslim and the Constitution of the country later.

His remarks drew the BJP’s ire, which attacked the INDIA bloc, stating that the “doors to Pakistan” are open for such people.

“Shariat is bigger for me. I keep the Quran in my heart and the Constitution in my hand. Muslims carry the Quran in their heart and the Constitution in their hand. I will first hold Shariat in my hand, then the Constitution,” Ansari told the media.

Hitting out at the Minister, state BJP spokesperson Ajay Sah said that the JMM leader will follow Shariat first and then the nation’s Constitution.

“Jharkhand government minister Mr. Hafizul Hasan Ansari says that he will first follow the Shariat and then the Constitution,” Sah said.

Jharkhand unit of the BJP said that for those keeping Shariat above the Constitution, “the doors to Pakistan and Bangladesh are open”.

“For those who have Sharia in their hearts, the doors to Pakistan and Bangladesh are open. India will run only under the Constitution of Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and will remain supreme,” the party posted on X.
