West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday made a goof-up while addressing Muslim clerics, during which she said that her state shares a border with Sri Lanka.

The mistake drew quirky reaction from the BJP, which said that the “geography expert” Chief Minister has “redrawn South Asia”.

“Bengal is the border of Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka,” Mamata said at the gathering, while attacking the Centre over the reports of the role of “outsiders” in the Bengal violence.

BJP Mocks ‘Geography Expert’ Mamata

The BJP took a swipe at Mamata, stating that she cannot even tell where the border of her state ends.

“According to geography expert & Failed West Bengal CM @MamataOfficial, the state now shares a border with Sri Lanka! Move over, maps—Didi’s imagination has redrawn South Asia! When the Chief Minister herself can’t tell where her state ends and an island nation begins, is it any wonder qualified teachers are jobless while scams thrive? In Mamata’s Bengal, facts are optional, logic is missing, and incompetence is a qualification,” State BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar posted on X.
