Some desires run so deeply that the universe has no option but to fulfill them. Shubham Dipta, who started his acting journey on television with Appnapan – Badalate Rishton Ka Bandhan, has now been cast as one of the two male leads in Mangal Lakshmi, which also features Deepika Singh, Sanika Gaikwad and Naman Shaw. What makes this character extra special for Shubham is that he will portray a celebrity singer named Kartik Nigam. But, what’s the big deal about it, we ask?
The actor shares, “First, I sing in real life as well. When I learnt about the character details, I requested the production house to allow me to sing in the show. They told me if I could pull it off, they would let me sing. It’s a rare opportunity for an actor to sing on screen. I often envisioned myself singing on screen, and it is a dream to be able to sing in my big screen debut. I look forward to the experience of recording in a studio through this show. If I get the opportunity to sing in this TV show, it will provide me with a playback experience aur pata bhi chal jaayega ki main kitne paani mein hoon taki main apni film debut ke liye ekdum prepared rahu.”

Another highlight is that, like Eklavya in Mahabharat, who practised archery in front of an idol he considered and believed to be Guru Dronacharya, Shubham has been training in singing independently by following videos of his favourite singer Sonu Nigam on YouTube. He says, “I follow his riyaz and breathing techniques by watching his videos on YouTube, adhering to his teachings religiously. So, it can’t get any better than having my character named Kartik ‘Nigam’. I feel it’s all interconnected, and this character was destined for me.”
