DUMKA: Political tension in Jamtara assembly constituency in Jharkhand escalated after Jayshree Soren, daughter of BJP candidate and CM Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law Sita Soren (Murmu), filed a case under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Congress candidate and state minister Irfaan Ansari on Saturday, reports Rajesh Kumar Pandey. This follows FIRs filed by both candidates against each other earlier for violation of model code of conduct.
In her complaint, lodged at Jamtara SC/ST police station, Jayshree accused Ansari of making derogatory remarks against her mother and character assassination attempts on her younger sister Vijayashree. Speaking to mediapersons, Jayshree referred to Ansari’s controversial statement of Oct 24, when he allegedly called Sita a “rejected good” after filing his nomination papers.
Ansari has denied making such statements, claiming that BJP is attempting to tarnish his image for political gains. In response, Jamtara district Congress unit president has filed a separate complaint against Sita.
Jamtara SC/ST police station officer in-charge, Man Bahalen Bada, confirmed receiving the complaint and said a senior official will investigate the matter under provisions of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
