In a recent interview, former actress Somy Ali opened up about her past relationship with Salman Khan and how it led to the breakup of his engagement with actress Sangeeta Bijlani. Somy revealed that Salman had called off his wedding with Sangeeta because of her, a decision that she now regrets. The actor and Sangeeta were all set to get married, with wedding cards already printed, but Salman chose to be with Somy instead.
Somy Ali recalls apologising to Sangeeta Bijlani for ‘breaking’ her marriage with Salman Khan: “I was a child then and didn’t know what I was doing”
Speaking to Times Now, Somy recounted a pivotal moment when Sangeeta walked in on her and Salman. “Salman and I were sitting and talking in my room, and Sangeeta walked in suddenly. She looked at Salman and said, ‘This is it. You have to make a choice.’ I assumed he would marry her, but instead, he came back and told me he had broken up with her and wanted to be with me,” Somy recalled.
Somy Ali’s Apology to Sangeeta Bijlani
Years after the incident, Somy felt compelled to apologise to Sangeeta Bijlani for her role in the breakup. “I told her I was deeply sorry from the bottom of my heart. I was a child then and didn’t know what I was doing,” Somy explained. According to her, Sangeeta responded by saying she didn’t care and was happily married to cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin. However, Somy noted that Sangeeta filed for divorce a month later.
Reflecting on her actions, Somy admitted, “I knew that what the 16-year-old Somy Ali did was wrong. She broke up a marriage. I wanted to take the higher road and apologise to Sangeeta.”
Somy Ali’s Troubled Relationship with Salman Khan
Somy Ali and Salman Khan reportedly dated in the 1990s, and while the relationship was short-lived in the public eye, Somy has often shared that they were together for eight years. In previous interviews, Somy accused Salman of being physically abusive during their time together.
