Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday inaugurated through video conference from Secretariat in Chennai, various completed infrastructure projects in government-run higher educational institutions in various districts constructed at a cost of ₹120.54 crore by the Higher Education Department.
He also inaugurated other infrastructure works carried out at government schools and primary health centres in Madurai, Theni and Pudukottai districts at a cost of ₹ 8.93 crore by the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department.
The completed projects of the Higher Education Department inaugurated by Mr. Stalin included new buildings for the Government College of Arts and Sciences functioning at Puliakulam in Coimbatore district, Tharagampatti in Karur district, Thally in Krishnagiri districts, and Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Government Arts and Science College in Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district.
Mr. Stalin also inaugurated indoor sports complex in Government Engineering Colleges in Salem, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli and Thanjavur; hostels for girl students at Bharathidasan University in Tiruchirappalli, e-library facility at H.H. Rajah’s College in Pudukkottai, additional classrooms, laboratories and toilet complexes at Government Industrial Training Institute at Dharmapuri, Srinivasa Subbaraya Government Polytechnic College in Mayiladuthurai district and Government Engineering College at Bargur, Sri Meenakshi Government Arts College for Women in Madurai and Government College of Arts and Science in Andipatti.
Besides, the Chief Minister inaugurated various completed projects of the BC, MBC and Minorities Welfare Department which included additional buildings, science and computer laboratories at Government Kallar Reclamation Schools at A. Pudupatti and Poosalapuram in Madurai district, Vellaiyammalpuram and Rajadhani in Theni district. He also opened a library at Government High School at Krishnajipattinam and additional buildings at Singavanam Primary Health Centre in Pudukottai district.
Minister for Higher Education Govi Chezhiaan, Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non Resident Tamils Welfare S.M. Nasar, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Siva. V. Meyyanathan, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and other senior officials were present.
