Sunny Deol recently discussed the existence of camps in Bollywood, highlighting how they tend to favor working with those who flatter them. Although Sunny Deol remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved actors, his career took a downturn after he stopped landing leading roles. He made a strong return with Gadar 2 last year and has since has been involved in several new projects.
Sunny Deol opens up about Bollywood camps and the reality of flattery in the industry; says, “Ek doosre ki chamchagiri karo”
In an interview with Screen, Sunny Deol shared, “The reality of life is that there are camps everywhere, right? So camps basically go with the people who are a part of the camp, who will do… ek doosre ki chamchagiri karo, camps hote hain. Somehow, people who are very upfront… We are Jats, Toh kuch bhi jo karte hain toh hum log darte nahin, hum karte hain. Aur hum sharmaate nahin kisi cheez se, sachche hain. So, people don’t like that.”
During the same conversation, Sunny Deol revealed that major production houses and influential camps in Bollywood during the 80s, 90s, and 2000s were reluctant to work with his father, Dharmendra. He also mentioned that he didn’t receive offers from these big production houses, which led him to establish his own production label. He added, “But what happens is, when you are talented, you are there and you can give those things. So that’s how I became a producer, I tried to bring in films, and we did try to do all those things. Lekin jab tak koi nahin aata, toh aap kuch nahin kar sakte hai, aapko ladte hi rehna padta hai.”
Following the massive success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol is set to star in Jaat, with the film’s trailer recently released alongside Pushpa 2. He is also filming Lahore: 1947 with Preity Zinta, produced by Aamir Khan. Additionally, Sunny is working on Border 2 alongside Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh and has confirmed his role in Ramayana – Part I, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.
