Senior IPS officer and Additional Director General of Police H.M. Jayaram has been placed under suspension by the Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday (June 17, 2025) a day after he was secured by Tiruvallur Police in connection with his involvement in abduction of a minor boy. He was picked up by the police following an order of the Madras High Court.
The suspension order was issued by the Home Department of the Tamil Nadu government. He was picked up by Tiruvallur district police personnel when he came out of the High Court premises on Monday. He is facing the charge of abetting a gang by providing his official car to abduct the boy to separate a couple.
The senior officer was taken in a police vehicle to Thiruvalangadu police station and was interrogated by the investigation officer for about six hours. After his statement was recorded, police took him to Thiruthani DSP office. Mr. Jayaram is likely to be produced before a judicial magistrate court in Thiruthani.
On Tuesday, Mr. Jayaram moved the Supreme Court seeking stay of the order issued by the Madras High Court.
MLA appears for inquiry
In the meantime, Puratchi Bharatham Katchi leader and K.V.Kuppam MLA ‘Poovai’ M. Jagan Moorthy appeared before the investigation officer in Thiruvalangadu on Tuesday morning as per the direction of Madras High Court.
