The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has sufficient administrative and infrastructure facilities to conduct the State Eligibility Test (SET), and it will have the participation of university teachers, said Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan.
The decision to conduct the test through the TRB was taken to ensure that it would be held transparently, in adherence to the ethics of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The minister pointed out that the National Eligibility Test (NET) that should have been conducted by the UGC is now being conducted by an external agency, the National Testing Agency (NTA). The TRB has the wherewithal to hold the test online or offline.
On Monday, the minister had advised the TRB to get the permission of the UGC to conduct the SET. Until now, a university had been given the authority for a period of three years to conduct the test.
