Some districts in the northern part of Telangana might experience freezing temperatures as India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert to four districts for Thursday (December 12, 2024), Friday and Saturday.
According to India Meteorological Department’s bulletin issued on Thursday, cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal districts on the three days.
Single digit temperatures
On Wednesday, six districts recorded single digit temperatures. According to the Telangana Development Planning Society’s report, 7°C was recorded in Bela of Adilabad which is the lowest in the State. This was followed by 7.3°C in Sirpur of Kumaram Bheem Asifabad; 8.3°C in Pembi of Nirmal, 9.4°C in Shivampet of Medak; 9.5°C in Kohir of Sangareddy and 9.7°C in Mallapur of Jagtial. Except Wanaparthy, the lowest temperatures in the remaining districts were less than 15°C.
In Hyderabad, the lowest of 12.7°C was recorded in Maredpally and 10.9°C in Uppal of Mechal Malkajgiri.
Temperatures in single digit were earlier recorded in the last week of the previous month. The temperatures increased from the end of November due to Cyclone Fengal. Besides, easterly wind flows from the Bay of Bengal to the Arabian Sea, a couple of low pressures in the Bay of Bengal led to warmer days and nights for a few days this month, TGDPS meteorologists said earlier.
