JAMMU: Acting on intelligence inputs, a police team arrested a terror associate in J&K’s Doda district late Thursday. The accused, Firdous Ahmed Wani from Mangota-Marmat area, had been residing in Dandi Bhaderwah of late, a police spokesperson said Friday.
Doda SSP Sandeep Mehta said Wani had been in constant contact with terrorist handlers across the border via various social media platforms and had been conspiring to execute subversive activities in and around Doda, in collaboration with active terrorists and handlers operating from Pakistan and PoK.
“He was actively working to revive terrorism in the area by establishing a foothold for anti-national elements in Doda,” the SSP said. “A thorough search of the suspect and his residence led to the seizure of incriminating materials and documents,” he said, adding that an FIR had been registered at Bhaderwah PS in this connection.
Wani’s arrest came hours after another terror affiliate, Abdul Satar, was arrested from Basantgarh in Udhampur district and lodged in prison under Public Safety Act on Thursday. “Satar, a resident of Ponara Soni, was involved in multiple terror cases and had been working as an active guide and facilitator for terror outfits till his arrest,” said an official, adding that several FIRs had been registered against Satar at Basantgarh PS.
Police have intensified their crackdown on terror networks linked to proscribed terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba and conducted over 70 raids in multiple districts of Jammu division recently, arresting several terror suspects in the operations.
