Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Sakshi Tanwar, Sumukhi Suresh, Kavya Trehan, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra, Udit Arora and others attended the trailer launch of the Netflix show The Royals at a studio in Mumbai. The setup was interesting. Instead of actors being on stage and facing the journalists on the floor, this time the actors were seated in the middle in an elegantly and royally shaped table. The mediapersons, meanwhile, were present on both sides of the table.
The Royals trailer launch: Chunky Panday steals the show: “In college, I was called ‘Your Highness’ because I was always HIGH”
As expected, Chunky Panday took the cake with his answers. He began by saying, “I am the king of comedy, self-proclaimed. I have given myself the title. In fact, in college, I was called ‘Your Highness’ because I was always high!” He clarified in his Housefull avatar, “I am joking!”
Chunky Panday continued, “The first time I met a royal person, I didn’t know whether to shake his hand, greet him with a ‘Namaste’ or touch his feet. I thought ‘Hukum’ was his first name as everyone kept calling him ‘Hukum, Hukum’. I asked him, ‘Hukum, what’s your surname?’! I didn’t know that Hukum means Maharaj. So, I had these fumbling problems when I met the royals for the first time. I got that aspect into this show.”
He further said, “I did a little bit of overacting. But then this beautiful female team controlled me and told me, ‘Relax. You are not in Housefull. You are in The Royals’! They had a leash and I was controlled.”
On a serious note, he said, “I had a really great time and I hope I feature in part 2 as well!”
Chunky Panday also revealed, “I was a last-minute addition. Hence, although the boys learned polo in two months, they gave me only two days to learn polo (laughs). Yet, I played with them and it was a lot of fun.”
The Royals releases on Netflix on May 9.
