NEW DELHI: Indian-origin entrepreneur and Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington on Friday, calling the interaction an honour and praising Modi as “thoughtful” and “deeply knowledgeable” on various issues.
Ramaswamy shared his thoughts on X and said, “Prime Minister Modi was thoughtful and deeply knowledgeable on a wide range of issues. It was an honor to meet & welcome him today. Wishing you a wonderful trip to the United States, Narendra Modi!”
Meanwhile, PM Modi also posted about the meeting, stating, “Met Mr. @VivekGRamaswamy and his father-in-law in Washington DC. We talked about diverse issues, including innovation, culture and more.”
The meeting, attended by India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra and other officials, focused on India-US ties, innovation, biotechnology, and entrepreneurship. Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “PM Narendra Modi met with Vivek Ramaswamy at Blair House today. They had insightful discussions on India-US ties, innovation, biotechnology, and the role of entrepreneurship in shaping the future.”
Speaking to ANI after the meeting, Ramaswamy reiterated his admiration for Modi, saying, “It was a pleasure and honour to welcome Prime Minister Modi here. Hope he has a wonderful visit and it was a great meeting.”
Ramaswamy, who previously ran for the US presidency before exiting the race and endorsing Donald Trump, has been a vocal supporter of conservative policies. He was briefly appointed to co-head the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk but later stepped down, reportedly due to differences with the Tesla CEO.
