Accused were disposing of body parts of dead cow
JAMMU: Three persons were arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of a particular community in J&K’s Samba while disposing of the body of a dead cow, police said Friday. The accused had dumped portions of the carcass at several places, some of which came into the notice of citizens who alerted police.
“Around 06.20pm Thursday, information was received about the desecration of a cattle carcass lying in the general area of Ward 8, Triloke di Chapri, Samba.A case was registered under relevant sections of the law. A special team headed by DySP HQ Samba was constituted and an investigation was launched,” a cop said.
The police team reached the spot and took the animal carcass into custody, following which several suspects were questioned. “During investigation, two persons were apprehended and subjected to sustained questioning. The two disclosed that they had been hired by a resident of Samba’s Garh Mandi to dispose of the body of his dead cow. Few parts of the carcass came to public notice, thus hurting religious sentiments,” the cop said.
