Three persons were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a girl on her way to her house in Vellore.
The police said the arrested persons — K. Prakash, 22, V. Suriya, 26, and N. Vijay, 22 — belonged to Vellore.
Inquiry revealed that Prakash became acquainted with the victim over the past few months. Lately, he had been pestering her to marry him but she refused. Angered by this, Prakash, along with his two friends, kidnapped her.
Based on a complaint by her parents, Veppamkuppam police formed a special team.
Getting a hint of this, Prakash regularly changed his place and mobile phone SIM card. However, police traced him and his friends to a hide-out in Vellore and arrested them. The victim was rescued.
They have been lodged at the Central Prison in Vellore.
