NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Trinamool Congress, accusing the party of attacking the central agencies when they come to investigate corruption cases.
His comments come a day after an NIA team was reportedly attacked by a crowd on Saturday while they were trying to apprehend two primary suspects in a bombing case from 2022 in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal.
PM Modi accused the Mamata Banerjee led party of impeding the Center’s welfares schemes for poor people. The prime minister during his rally in Jalpaiguri also slammed the TMC on Sandeshkhali case saying that the ‘TMC syndicate rules’ in West Bengal.
The prime minister also expressd his condolences to the people that lost their lives in the storm that hit Jalpaiguri in late March.
Here are the top quotes from his rally in Jalpaiguri:

  • TMC wants its corrupt leaders to get free license to commit crimes. So, when central investigations agencies arrive here, they attack and threaten the team.
  • TMC govt doesn’t implement the welfare initiatives of the Central govt. They loot people’s money. We are giving funds to the state, yet the benefits don’t reach the intended beneficiaries in Bengal.
  • The country knows about the atrocities inflicted on mothers and sisters (in Sandeshkhali). The country saw it. The court itself has to intervene in everything here. The TMC syndicate rules here.
  • TMC, Leftists and Congress are all partners in crime. To save each other, they formed the INDI alliance.
  • Congress brought Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. And, now that we have abrogated the article, they are questioning its effect on other states. They did not care about Kashmir, just like they did not care about the Kachchatheevu island.
  • I am working twenty-four by seven for ‘Viksit Bharat’ 2047. I believe that we will work together to make India a developed country.
  • Our (BJP-led NDA) government’s policies have made the lives of poor easier. The work that I have done in the past 10 years is just a trailer. We have to take the country forward and make India the third largest economy in the world.
