Members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) on Thursday attempted to lay siege to the residence of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman at Neelankarai on the outskirts of Chennai for his controversial remarks on Dravidar Kazhagam founder Periyar E.V. Ramasamy.
The TPDK cadre, led by its founder K. Ramakrishnan, gathered outside Mr. Seeman’s residence, demanding him to furnish proof to back his remarks on Periyar. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Ramakrishnan said, “Seeman has been continuously defaming Periyar and spreading lies. He should furnish proof for his claims. We will not let him go anywhere until he gives proof.”
The protesters also raised slogans and held placards against Mr. Seeman and staged a sit-in protest in front of his house. They demanded an apology from him. The police removed them from the spot. Mr. Seeman was not present in his house when they protested.
