For actress Triptii Dimri, who has carved a name for herself in the world of Indian cinema, the stage has always been a place of early memories and a connection to her roots. Recently, the actress opened up to Cosmopolitan Magazine about her childhood experiences, where one of her most cherished memories comes from her participation in Ramlila, a traditional theatrical depiction of the Hindu epic, Ramayana. Growing up in Delhi, Triptii had a close involvement in the local Ramlila performances and how the ‘acting keeda’ stemmed from those performances.

In her candid interview, Triptii reflected on the cultural significance of the performances and reflected on how her father too showcased his interest in acting in theatres. “I don’t know why it was only the boys who were encouraged to participate, and girls were given smaller roles like Sita’s friend. I have played the witch when Sita is kidnapped. My dad was part of the organising committee for Ramlila in the colony I grew up in Delhi, for a good 30 years. As a kid, he had played all kinds of characters—from Ram to Ravan. Still, when I would get all nervous and forget my lines, my dad would stand behind the curtain and help me with my dialogues. Even back then, I never thought of acting as a career choice. It was only when one of my relatives had come visiting and suggested that I try modelling, that the comment stayed with me,” she shared.

Triptii’s memories of her father, a key figure in the community’s Ramlila committee, bring a sense of nostalgia and warmth, as she recalls the family connection to the arts. Her father’s involvement allowed her to be a part of the performances from a young age, and despite her initial nerves, his support was pivotal in her early days on stage.

From playing small roles in her childhood Ramlila performances to becoming one of Bollywood’s most promising actresses, Triptii Dimri’s story serves as an inspiring reminder of how early life experiences can influence one’s path in unexpected ways. The actress, who continues to win hearts with her performances, is currently gearing up for the highly anticipated romantic drama Dhadak 2 which also features Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead.
