COIMBATORE: Peelamedu police in Coimbatore city arrested two youths who came to Coimbatore to attend the recruitment for the Indian Army, for fighting with the manager of a private hotel.
The youths consumed alcohol for Rs 5,798 in a private bar attached to the hotel, and their UPI payment was not credited to the bank account of the bar. When the manager questioned them, the youths assaulted him with their hands and pushed him down.
The arrested youths were identified as G Baskar, 19, and D Bharath, 20, both from Burgur in Krishnagiri district. N Prakash, 41, from AKG Nagar at Upplilipalayam in Coimbatore city, was working as a manager in a private hotel and lodge at Peelamedu for the last five years.
He lodged a complaint with Peelamedu police on Thursday evening and said that the two youths visited the hotel on Wednesday and told Prakash that they came to Coimbatore from Krishnagiri district to attend the army recruitment. They booked a room and paid Rs 3,500 in advance.
Around 3 pm, the duo went to the bar at the hotel and consumed liquor for Rs 5,798. They showed a screenshot of a UPI payment to the bar manager, Silambarasan. The duo told the bar manager that the amount was sent to the bar’s account through a UPI payment done by their friends.
Later, the two youths went to their room. However, the bar management did not receive the amount of Rs 5,798. Manager Prakash went to the room and met the two youths. He told them that the amount was not credited to their bar account and asked them to pay the money.
