NEW DELHI: Punjab Police on Sunday arrested two key operatives of Canada-based gangster Arshdeep Singh Dalla in connection with the murder of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau in Faridkot district last month. The arrests were made in a joint operation by the State Special Operation Cell of Mohali, the Anti-Gangster Task Force, and Faridkot Police, according to an official statement.
Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed the arrests and said on X that, “State Special Operation Cell of Mohali in a joint operation with the Anti-Gangster Task Force and Faridkot Police apprehended two key operatives of Canada-based designated terrorist Arsh Dalla involved in the murder of Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau in Faridkot.”

Investigations revealed that the two arrested operatives were also involved in the killing of Jaswant Singh Gill, a man serving a life sentence in a 2016 murder case. Gill was shot dead in Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh, on November 7, 2024, on the directions of Arsh Dalla. DGP Yadav added, “Investigations reveal that the accused also killed Jaswant Singh Gill on November 7, 2024, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh under directions from Arsh Dalla.”
The operatives returned to Punjab after the Gwalior murder and were arrested near Kharar. The police also claimed that with the arrests, a potential target killing in the state had been averted. Authorities recovered two sophisticated weapons from the suspects.
In a separate operation on Friday, Punjab Police arrested two operatives with links to Portugal-based gangster Manpreet Singh, also known as Mannu Ghanshampuria, in a significant crackdown on illegal arms smuggling.
The arrested individuals, identified as Aditya Kapoor, alias Makhan, from Amritsar, and Ravinder Singh from Gurdaspur, were also connected to US-based criminals Balwinder Singh, alias Doni Bal, and Prabhdeep Singh, alias Prabh Dasuwal.
Police recovered four firearms from their possession, including a 9mm Glock pistol, two foreign-made .30 bore pistols, and one .32 bore pistol, along with five magazines and 14 live cartridges.
