Cuddalore: Session judge (special court for Pocso cases) S T Lakshmi Ramesh on Tuesday sentenced a 25-year-old man to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old schoolgirl in a village near Vridhachalam in Cuddalore district in March last year.
The judge also sentenced the youth identified as S Jeeva to undergo 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for abducting the minor girl and to undergo five years of imprisonment for filming the act on his mobile phone.All the terms will run concurrently.
According to the prosecution, the minor girl, a Class 7 student then at a government boarding school was returning to the school with her friends in a government bus on March 7 after visiting her parents during holidays. She realized she had left a few textbooks at home and got down at a bus stop.
She approached a youth and requested him to call her mother over the mobile phone to inform her that she would return home to fetch the textbooks. The youth volunteered to drop her in her house. But he took her to a secluded spot and sexually abused her. He also filmed the act before leaving her in her village. The girl narrated the incident to her mother, who lodged a complaint with Veppur police.
