Union Education Minister to inaugurate IInvenTiv 2025 at IIT Madras

The Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Madras will host the 3rd edition of IInventTiv, a two-day research and development fair on Feb. 28 and March 1 on its premises.

The IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti announced that the institute received 262 applications of which 86 institutions, including IITs, NITs, IISERs and the top 50 institutions in the National Institutional Ranking Framework, will participate and showcase around 185 innovations in the fair that will be inaugurated by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. “We will sign at least 25 Memoranda Of Understanding with industries to take forward the innovations,” he added. 

Mr. Kamakoti said the IInvenTiv is a platform for higher education institutions to showcase their research and start-ups they had incubated to the market for possible technology transfers and collaborations. 

The fair aims to drive commercialisation of lab research into real-world products and applications through technology transfer, licensing and other avenues of industry-academia collaboration. 

A coffee table book on technological innovations from Indian higher education institutions that have made impact in Indian industry will be released at the event. There will be stalls, plenary talks, and panel discussions in thematic areas

Each day there will be four parallel sessions called Chintan Shivir. They will cover topics such as aviation, defence and space, marine technologies, medical and healthcare engineering, circularity and sustainability (e-mobility); Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI ML) technologies; smart cities and infrastructure; advanced manufacturing and rural technologies. 

IIT M Shaastra magazine will assist in Chintan Shivir and the coffee table book. IInvenTiv was launched in 2022 and the first edition was held in IIT Delhi. The second edition was held in Hyderabad.
