UP: Five arrested for raping of 19-year-old woman in Sonbhadra
NEW DELHI: Police arrested five men on Wednesday for the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old woman. The victim’s parents reported her missing to police on Saturday. Police located her on Tuesday.
“She told the police that the accused — Neeraj Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Shyam Sundar Yadav, Vimlesh Paswan and Bindu Gupta — took her from her residence and gang-raped her,” Additional Superintendent of Police Tribhuvan Nath Tripathi said.
A case was filed Tuesday following her account. Charges include criminal intimidation, house trespass after preparation for assault, wrongful restraint, and gang rape. All five suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
