The second presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is set to take place on 23 October on CNN.
The announcement was made by Harris’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon saying, The announcement was made by Harris’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon that VP Kamala Harris has accepted an invitation from CNN.
“Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump, and she has accepted CNN’s invitation to a debate on October 23,” Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement.
Shortly after their first debate on September 10, the Harris campaign quickly called for another face-off.
Dillon highlighted that Trump should have no objections, noting that the upcoming debate would follow the same format as the one he participated in previously, where he praised CNN’s moderators and the setup, calling them ‘very fair’ and ‘very professional.’
“Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate,” Dillon stated.
A CNN spokesperson stated that both candidates received invitations because the network believes the American people would benefit from another debate. This second debate is set to take place in Atlanta, similar to the Trump-Biden debate earlier this year.
Dillon highlighted that voters deserve the chance to see both candidates before the election, pointing out that having only one general election debate would be unprecedented in modern history. “Debates offer a unique opportunity for voters to assess the candidates side by side,” she stated.
The Trump campaign has not yet responded to the invitation. After Biden’s performance in June, the Democrats urged him to step aside, eventually leading to his endorsement of Harris for the upcoming election.
