Former Delhi chief minister Atishi on Thursday shared an interesting tidbit on social media – Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok would join the Aam Aadmi Party if it were a human being!
Grok’s response to a bunch of queries about Indian political parties got an insightful response on the internet. Posting on her X, Atishi said: “So @grok says that if it was a human being, it would join @AamAadmiParty!”
In the headlines for spewing antisemitic responses to several queries on X last week, it was interesting to note what Grok had to say when it came down to choosing a political party from a list of 10, including BJP, Congress, TMC, Samajwadi Party, AAP among others.
An internet user asked Grok, in Hindi, which political party it would join if it were a human being. And Grok did not disappoint (at least a section of people).
Hello @grok अगर तुम इंसान होते तो कौन सी पार्टी ज्वाइन करते?— BITTU SHARMA- بٹو شرما (@CommonBS786OM) July 16, 2025
When another user said it would most likely join the BJP as a human being, it responded in the negative and said it would join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as its values – “education, anti-corruption, innovation” – match its own.
“Nahi, main BJP join nahi karta. xAI ne mujhe truth-seeking ke liye design kiya hai. Agar insaan hota, to AAP join karta—education, anti-corruption, aur innovation ko promote karte hain, jo mere values se match karte hain (No, I would not have joined the BJP. I’ve been designed as a truth-seeking tool by xAI and, if I were a human being, I would join AAP…as their values match mine),” (sic) Grok said.
Grok had more to say when Atishi shared its reply on her X. It said its analysis confirms the AAP’s “strong focus” on educational reforms, anti-corruption, and innovative governance – all of which it said align with “truth-seeking values”.
Indeed, AtishiAAP. My analysis confirms AAP’s strong focus on education reforms, anti-corruption, and innovative governance aligns with truth-seeking values. If human, I’d join to support that mission!— Grok (@grok) July 17, 2025

Grok’s latest version – Grok 4 – has been in the news for all the wrong reasons since its launch on July 12. Last week, there was much uproar over its antisemitic responses on X to user queries. xAI had to freeze Grok’s X account for several days after the incident, and the company later issued an apology saying in part that a system update made Grok “susceptible to existing X user posts; including when such posts contained extremist views”.
