‘Victory’ premieres globally at New York Asian Film Festival 2024, Hyeri claims Rising Star Award

The 23rd edition of the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) concluded after an exciting 17-day run from July 12 to 28, 2024. This year’s festival was a massive success, showcasing over 90 films and featuring appearances from 130 acclaimed filmmakers, international stars, and other notable guests.
Korean actors were in the spotlight at NYAFF 2024. Hyeri and Park Se Wan from “Victory,” Shim Eun Kyung from “The Killers,” and Lee Ju Seung from “The Guest” attended the festival, charming film enthusiasts with their presence.
The cheerleading film “Victory” had its international premiere as the festival opener on July 12. Hyeri received the Screen International Rising Star Asia Award and joined Park Se Wan, Director Park Beom Su, and Producer Lee Anna for an engaging Q&A session with fans.
Several Korean films received rave responses from audiences, including “Exhuma,” “12.12: The Day,” “The Roundup: Punishment” (part of “The Roundup” series), and “Escape.” These films showcased the diversity and talent within Korean cinema, leaving a lasting impression on festival-goers.

Spotlight on the Stars
Hyeri: Hyeri is a multifaceted South Korean actress, singer, and TV personality. Rising to fame as the youngest member of Girl’s Day, she earned the title “Nation’s Little Sister” after her stint on Real Men (2014). She gained massive popularity with her award-winning performance in Reply 1988 (2015). Hyeri ranked third in Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2016 and has been a regular cast member on Amazing Saturday. She starred in the hit series My Roommate Is a Gumiho (2021).
Park Se Wan: Park Se Wan debuted in 2016 with The Red Teacher and gained attention with School 2017 and I’m Not a Robot. Her first lead role came with Just Dance (2018). She continued to impress with roles in Joseon Survival Period and Never Twice.
Shim Eun Kyung: Starting as a child actress, Shim Eun Kyung has become one of South Korea’s most acclaimed actresses. She starred in the blockbuster Sunny (2011) and the hit Miss Granny (2014), earning numerous Best Actress awards. Her notable TV dramas include Tomorrow Cantabile (2014).
NYAFF 2024 was a grand showcase of Asian cinema, bringing together diverse films and talents, and providing a platform for vibrant cultural exchange.
