Ajith Kumar’s action thriller ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ continues its box office run, crossing Rs 128.85 crore globally in 11 days. While the film’s pace has slowed down, it remains steady in Tamil Nadu and overseas markets.
According to Sacnilk, the movie has collected Rs 77.41 crore net in India, with a gross of ₹89.85 crore. In Tamil Nadu, Vidaamuyarchi has raked in Rs 75.41 crore, while its Telugu version contributed Rs 2 crore. The film’s overseas earnings stand at Rs 39 crore, adding to its impressive worldwide total.
On its 10th day (Saturday), Vidaamuyarchi saw an overall Tamil Nadu occupancy of 22.71%. Morning shows recorded a 15.25% turnout, which increased to 23.76% in the afternoon. Evening and night shows had 22.52% and 29.31% occupancy, respectively. Despite competition from new releases, the film has managed to sustain audience interest.
ETimes review for the film reads, “Had director Magizh Thirumeni placed this part towards the climax, the film would have become an intriguing thriller. The revelation ends up being a spoiler for the supposedly thrilling second half, making it very predictable. The half-hour leading up to the interval also feels repetitive. The film comes together in the last one hour, but the closure is utterly disappointing as it feels like a convenient wrap up. Vidaamuyarchi is not the usual Ajith outing and marks a departure from his typical mass masala films with an entry song and lengthy dialogues. While there are two ways to see this, the movie might be disappointing for Ajith fans expecting mass moments. Ajith wields a white flag from the beginning and stays away from putting up a fight until heavily provoked. For an action thriller, he gets beaten up more than he can beat up.”
Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, Vidaamuyarchi follows Ajith’s character on a gripping mission to rescue his wife, who has been abducted by a dangerous group in Azerbaijan.
With its current momentum, Vidaamuyarchi is expected to continue its box office run, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where Ajith enjoys a massive fan following. The film’s performance in the coming days will determine whether it can reach the Rs 150 crore mark globally.
