Senior YSRCP leader V. Vijaya Sai Reddy’s resignation from the party is a clear indication of its poor state of affairs, according to TDP leader and Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao.
I had mixed feelings reading Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy’s post on the social media, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said while addressing the media here on Saturday.
“Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy is a close aide of the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He has also been jailed along with Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy for the crimes committed by them. His resignation reflects the sorry state of affairs in the YSRCP,” the TDP leader said.
Terming the YSRCP as a sinking ship, he said many of its leaders from across the State, including those in Visakhapatnam, had already quit the party, and the trend would continue. “Ultimately, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy will alone be left in the party,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.
“A party losing elections and bouncing back is common in politics, but the YSRCP’s story is different. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s attitude is the reason behind its downfall,” he said.
Stating that Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy was a politician who needed no introduction, especially in the North Andhra region, he said that during his term as the party’s incharge for the region, people had spent sleepless nights. People of Visakhapatnam had then seen grabbing of government and prime private lands, the TDP leader alleged.
“His resignation from the YSRCP and decision to quit politics will not provide any relief to Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy from the crimes he has committed. He will have to face the consequences if his involvement is proved in the grabbing of lands in Visakhapatnam,” he said.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao also lashed out at the YSRCP leaders for their comments on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Davos visit and the recent financial package announced for the revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) by the Centre.
During its term, the YSRCP government had not attempted to attract investments, but forced many companies to leave the State. The NDA government, on the other hand, was in the forefront in bringing investments to the State, he said.
Many IT companies were looking forward to set up their base in Visakhapatnam with the goal of providing five lakh job opportunities in the city, he said. “The VMRDA building at Siripuram may also be provided to the IT companies soon,” he added.
“The YSRCP leaders should set their house in order first before criticising others,” he added.
