BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai on Monday said he wants to be on the field with people and that is why he is not in the race for the post of the State unit chief.

“Being a president alone does not give one identity. Posts will come and go. I request all party cadres to intensify the activities on the field,” he told the reporters in Chennai.

Mr. Annamalai pointed out that he has been travelling barefoot for four months with the objective of removing the DMK government.

“My full time will be on the field, travelling and being with people. So, I will not be having the duties which have been carried out by the State president. Someone else will do it, and I am happy about it,” he said.

Meanwhile in a post on X, countering Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s criticism on increase in prices of cooking gas, Mr. Annamalai said that the international prices have been increased since 2023 but the prices were not increased in India in 2024.

He also said the DMK has not fulfilled its poll promise of ₹100 subsidy per LPG cylinder.
